Audi Maserati in Petersfield
P erforming at The Studio Theatre @ TPS marked a first for Write Angle Poetry Cabaret but by no means the last. “You were so successful,” said Ethna Matthews of The Studio, “that you\'ll have to come back here to perform every three months!”
The Studio is a big auditorium with a different atmosphere from The Square Brewery, where Write Angle has its regular monthly evenings. “It was a challenge for us to aim to fill the auditorium, ,” said one of the members of Write Angle. “But we felt it was worth the gamble, just to show the talent of some of our fantastic professional artistes.”
“And we hoped to reach more Petersfield people, who are accustomed to The Studio whereas The Square Brewery brings in a lot of people from outside the area including Portsmouth, Hindhead, Basingstoke, Hazlemere, the Meons, etc.”
From the laughter and energy of the good-sized audience, it was obvious everyone enjoyed the evening. Write Angle aims to show that stage poetry can be comedy with clever and quirky ideas. Rachel Pantechnicon, AF Harrold, Liz Bentley, Jude Simpson, Speech Painter each sparkled in their own unique and unpredictable way, supported by the guitar music and song of Jezz and Nick.
On Tuesday 21 April, at 7.30 at The Square Brewery, Write Angle showcases the amazing Audi Maserati (pictured in the self-portrait). He started with gigs in West Country, went to London, and was invited to do gigs all over England after an appearance at Apples & Snakes, the largest poetry organization. He joined Ragged Trousers, a group who performed for working men\'s clubs, and then formed his own band.
Audi stopped performing when he met the beautiful Caroline – they live in Petersfield with their children, Poppy and Billy. Now that his kids are older, Audi is again performing in the area. With his huge repertoire, Audi can ‘outgig’ any performer, as he will surely prove on 21 April.
There\'ll also be Jezz with guitar and music, as well as the regular Open Mic to bring forth new talent, and the regulars. Go to Write Angle Poetry Cabaret at: www.petersfieldwriteangle.co.uk |
